SAN ANTONIO – A Floresville man was sentenced in a federal court in San Antonio to 216 months in prison for distribution of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas.
According to court documents, Jose David Carvajal Jr., 54, sent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to others in a Kik group and bragged about sexually assaulting a young child. The FBI identified and arrested Carvajal, who had been part of a Kik group for more than six years, and discovered he had sexually touched a child and took pictures of her showering without her knowledge. A forensic review of Carvajal’s phone revealed he had collected hundreds of images and videos depicting prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
In addition to the 18-year imprisonment, Carvajal was sentenced to lifetime supervision and ordered to forfeit the items used to commit the offense. Carvajal will also pay $35,000 in restitution to seven victims, and pay $5,000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act.
Carvajal was arrested on Nov. 30, 2023, and indicted on Dec. 12, 2023, for one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to count one on Nov. 13, 2025.
The FBI investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
